Changing MDM For a Device Previously Registered With a Hospital Email Address

This is for iOS devices that are currently registered with the SHC or LPCH/SCH instance of AirWatch, which need to be changed to the University MDM/AirWatch .

All School of Medicine employees (faculty, staff, students, residents and fellows) who have attested to using High Risk data (including PHI) must have all Stanford-owned or personally-owned devices which are used for Stanford work (including email only) enrolled in the University MDM. To add permissions for access to Hospital email accounts, the current process is to request the Hospital Help Desk to "whitelist" your device.

Important Note: Upon re-enrolling your device in the University MDM, access to your Hospital email and calendars will be disabled until the whitelist process is completed. Stanford Health Care, and Stanford Children's Health both say that they can now do this in realtime, during a phone call from you.

Make the necessary changes on your device

  1. Open the AirWatch application on your phone. Select the window under My Device, Status that describes your device.

  2. You may not receive this, but if you receive a request to accept push notifications, you can click Dismiss to continue without changing your Notifications.

  3. Enter the credentials you currently use to access AirWatch.

  4. At the Status page, select the Device Enrolled option.

  5. Select Re-Enroll Device.

  6. Click Yes to confirm beginning the enrollment process.

If you also still need to read email from an SHC or LPCH/SCH mail server:

Once you've successfully changed AirWatch to use a University profile, you need to contact the Hospital service desk to ensure your device is able to reach their mail server.

  • For an SHC email address (@stanfordhealthcare.org):
Please contact 650-723-3333 and request they add your device to their email server whitelist. They can also walk you through adding the Exchange account (for stanfordhealthcare.org email/calendar) to your device, and testing that it works.
