7.4: Financial Aid


The MD Financial Aid Office within Medical Student Affairs provides comprehensive financial aid packages to assist in making a Stanford University School of Medicine education affordable for a broad range of students.

These pages describe the educational financing opportunities available through the MD Financial Aid Office and the policies that govern financial aid eligibility. Policies regarding university funds are reviewed annually taking into consideration the availability of resources. You are encouraged to discuss  any questions or concerns you have about the policies and procedures  with the Financial Aid Office.

Graduate Cash Advance

MD students with financial aid in need funds for living expenses prior to the autumn financial aid disbursement date may apply for an advance. Please be sure that you have sufficient financial aid to cover your quarterly bill plus the advance prior to applying. Advanced funds may be repaid when financial aid begins disbursing.

New Website for Direct Loans

studentaid.gov is the new website for Federal Student Aid. Information about the FAFSA, loans, and loan repayment may be found here. You may go to studentaid.gov to complete Loan Entrance Counseling, Promissory Notes, and Exit Counseling.
