Stanford's Second Cyclotron

July 27, 2023

"Stanford Radiology reached a significant milestone with the delivery of a General Electric (GE) PETtrace 890 Cyclotron System from Sweden, across the Atlantic Ocean and United States, to 1701 Page Mill Road in Palo Alto. This new cyclotron is part of Dr. Sam Gambhir’s broader vision for precision medicine and advancements in biology and technology for better diagnosis, improved disease prevention and early intervention.

This is the Cyclotron and Radiochemistry Facility’s (CRF) second cyclotron, which is being installed in the new facility expected to open in January 2024.

The opening of this second cyclotron facility will provide Stanford with added capacity to synthesize short-lived isotopes, make advancements for theragnostic radiolabeling and dispensing for human translation, and provide new capability for solid targets."
