Stanford Cancer Institute

Land Acknowledgement
Stanford sits on the ancestral land of the Muwekma Ohlone Tribe. This land was and continues to be of great importance to the Ohlone people. Consistent with our values of community and inclusion, we have a responsibility to acknowledge, honor, and make visible the University’s relationship to Native peoples.

In order to uphold and facilitate JEDI, the JEDI team and committee members will support all efforts and initiatives to create a research workforce, workplace culture, and outreach to the community that is grounded in JEDI to:

  • Promote the recruitment, career development, and advancement of individuals from groups historically underrepresented in research staff, faculty, leadership and advisors at SCI

  • Enhance the capacity and impact of the SCI-JEDI Office through intentional collaboration with local communities and the broader Stanford community, including SCI’s Office of Community Outreach and Engagement  (COE) and the Office of Cancer Research Training and Education Coordination (CRTEC).

  • Evaluate progress toward advancing justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion at SCI by collecting and making transparent SCI demographic data, by conducting regular climate surveys, and by conducting annual benchmarking and program adjustments based on results.
