As we continue Shelter In Place, remote work and a dynamic Covid-19 situation, we've all had to find our inner superhero.  Process Excellence's May newsletter is designed to help you find new ways to save the day.
Be A Miro Hero
3 quick tips to help you be a better, faster, stronger user of your team's Miro VizBoard

1. Find A Side Kick. 

Many SoM teams have shared their huddles are much smoother and more efficient when one person leads the conversation while another navigates the Miro board (rather than having one person do both). Give this tag-team approach a try and let us know how it works for your team.

2. Use A Good Guide (Frames!)

When working through a huddle agenda, it can be difficult to move smoothly around the Miro VizBoard. Frames to the rescue!  You can create frames around one or more elements on your VizBoard (click here if you're not sure how). During your huddle, click on the Frames Icon in the toolbar the bottom of your screen. The left side of your screen will now display a list of all your board's frames. You can rearrange them in the order of your agenda and then click on any frame to go directly to that frame on the board. 

3. Don't be afraid to send up the Bat Signal (umm, "Mitch Signal"?)

Miro is a powerful and well designed tool, but many users need a little help figuring out how to use it. Whether you're just getting started, or want to boost your skill level, here are some online resources available to all:

  1. Identifying what helped them achieve "the impossible" during the Covid-19 crisis
  2. Analyzing which factors may be sustainable when life is back to "normal"
  3. Creating a plan to carry forward helpful factors

Lean "Teamwork Heroes" Of The Month:

Over the past year the Research Management Group has partnered with the Departments of Health Research Policy, Neurobiology, Neurology, Neurosurgery and Radiology on a process improvement effort, using the Lean methodology. to reduce the administrative burden associated with the development process for grant proposals.  Kathleen Thompson announced the cross functional team has created a resource library of Proposal Tools & Templates that provide instructions, tools, templates and samples for proposal components required for NIH grants proposals. The library currently includes ~45 documents that can be accessed on the RMG website.
 
Over the coming months, they plan to continue their efforts to expand the resource library to include support for other sponsors proposal component requirements.
