Community College Premedical Program

The Stanford Summer Community College Premedical Program (SSCCPP) targets current community college students considered low-income and/or underrepresented in medicine providing exposure to medicine and health through topics in health disparities, leadership challenges in health provision and administration, science success strategies, professional development, clinical exposure, successful preparation for the medical school application process, postsecondary and graduate/professional school financing.  

SSCCPP allows talented and motivated community college students interested in medicine to immerse themselves in the Stanford School of Medicine network through a variety of personal and professional development experiences. The 2024 program is expected to return as a six-week, residential program where selectees will live on-campus.

SSCCPP is designed to impact the San Francisco Bay area and its contiguous counties, promoting the growth and diversity of the health workforce in the region. 

Participants will be REQUIRED to remain on campus for the duration of the program (Monday – Saturday) and will be immersed in topic areas including:

·       Critical reading and research of medical literature 

·       Health Activism and Advocacy in Medicine

·       Science preparatory classes (human anatomy and molecular cellular bio) 

·       Leadership in Medicine and Medical Science

·       The medical school admissions and financing process

Additional activities promote:

·       Peer networking 

·       Medical student mentorship 

·       Clinical shadowing and research opportunity education

The program will be offered in person, and selectees will be awarded a scholarship that covers all program expenses.
