The SUNet (Stanford University Network) ID is a unique 3-8 character account name that identifies you as a member of the Stanford community. To set up your SUNet ID, you will need your Stanford University ID number (the eight digit number included in your acceptance notification; do not enter the leading “VS”.) Please follow the instructions in your acceptance notification to set up your SUNet ID, which also establishes your Stanford email account. Once it's created, enter your SUNet ID on the Acceptance Form.

You will need a SUNet ID in order to:

• Access your Stanford email account, e.g. yourSUNetID@stanford.edu, to receive on-boarding and clerkship information from various Stanford contacts
• Access the wireless network
• Take COVID-19 tests (if applicable)

Health insurance coverage is a requirement for participating in Stanford clerkships. The expectation is that you are arriving at Stanford under the cover of a health insurance plan, such as one provided by your home institution.  As a visiting medical student, you are not eligible for Stanford's student health insurance plan.

Thus, please provide proof of your insurance coverage including the name of the plan, policy or member number, and plan expiration date on the Acceptance Form.

Per Stanford University policy, visiting medical students are not granted remote access to patient data.

Instructions for sending your photo, which will be used to create a Stanford Medicine ID badge, will be included in the acceptance notification. You’ll be required to carry a Stanford Medicine photo ID if your clerkship takes place at the Stanford Hospital and/or Lucile Packard Children's Hospital.

Due to COVID-19 safety precautions, the security office needs to create your badge in advance of your arrival to reduce non-critical traffic at their location. You'll pick up your badge based on instructions received from the Office of Medical Student Affairs.

Instructions will be provided for submitting  vaccination/immunization details and TB testing for medical clearance as well as providing proof of a mask fit certification.
