A leader in U.S. hospital quality ratings has given Stanford Health Care and Stanford Health Care Tri-Valley top grades for safety. Stanford Health Care was also named a top teaching hospital.

Stanford Health Care was named a Top Teaching Hospital and earned an A for safety from the Leapfrog group.

Stanford Health Care and Stanford Health Care Tri-Valley have been ranked among the best in the nation for hospital safety by the Leapfrog Group, a watchdog organization focused on quality and safety in U.S. hospitals.
The hospitals received A grades in the fall 2022 Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade report. The organization updated its ratings for nearly 3,000 general hospitals, awarding grades of A, B, C, D or F. The grades reflect each organization’s efforts to ensure patient safety and reduce avoidable harm.
“This recognition from Leapfrog Group is a testament to our exceptional clinicians, care teams, faculty and staff,” said Lloyd Minor, MD, dean of the Stanford School of Medicine. “That we continue to earn these accolades is even more significant when you consider all we’ve overcome and achieved these past turbulent years. I am humbled to be part of such a talented, dedicated and caring community.”
Stanford Health Care was also named a 2022 Leapfrog Top Teaching Hospital. The recognition is given to the nation’s teaching hospitals that meet Leapfrog’s high standards for health care.

Leapfrog’s safety grades are based on more than 30 protective measures, including infection control, patient fall prevention, staffing levels and medical team communication. The top hospital rating is given to those that meet Leapfrog’s standards, defined each year in the group’s Top Hospital Methodology.
Leapfrog, a 21-year-old nonprofit organization, publishes safety grades and hospital rankings to help patients make informed decisions about their medical care. Thousands of U.S. hospitals participate in the group’s annual surveys for safety and top hospital designations.
